Throb (the “App”) is a chronic-migraine diary for iPhone. This policy explains how the App handles your information. It is short on purpose, because Throb is built to keep your information on your device.
We do not run any servers and there are no user accounts, so we never receive your personal information. The records you create in Throb — migraine attacks, pain levels, medication doses, notes, triggers, head-map pain locations and similar entries — are stored only in the App's local database on your iPhone.
With your explicit permission, Throb can read sleep and menstrual-cycle data from Apple Health to help you spot patterns, and can write your logged headache events back to Apple Health. This data is processed entirely on your device. We never transmit it off your device, never use it for advertising, and never share or sell it. You can grant or revoke these permissions at any time in iOS Settings › Health. Health data is also protected by Apple's HealthKit privacy rules.
Throb's weather feature is turned off by default. If you turn it on, the App makes a single “while-in-use” request for your approximate location to fetch local weather and barometric pressure through Apple WeatherKit, which can help you correlate attacks with the weather. Your location is used only for that lookup and a short on-device cache — we do not store your location history and we do not share it with anyone. You can disable weather and revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings. Throb may also read barometric pressure from your device's sensor; this happens on-device and involves no personal data.
None. Throb contains no analytics, no advertising, no crash-reporting services, and no third-party software development kits. We do not track you across other apps or websites. The App's Privacy Manifest reflects this.
Throb is a one-time purchase. Payments and any restore-purchase requests are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or receive your payment details.
Throb keeps automatic backups on your device, and lets you export your data as a doctor's report (PDF), CSV, or JSON. These files are created on your device and go only where you choose to send them — for example, to your doctor or another app. Once you export and share a file, it leaves Throb's control.
Apart from the optional weather lookup described above (only if you enable it) and any files you deliberately export and share, no data leaves your device.
Because your data lives on your device, you are in control of it. You can delete individual entries inside the App, or remove everything at once by deleting the App. Uninstalling Throb permanently removes its on-device database and backups from that device.
Throb is a general-audience health tool and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from children — and, as described above, we do not collect personal information from anyone.
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, note the change in the App.
